A Moment of Pause

Status of PAT 2025

The Piscataquog Area Trailways Annual Membership Meeting on Feb. 1, 2025, resulted in a vote to pause income-generating activities for the 2025 year. No group activities are planned. Also, a Partnership Subcommittee was formed to investigate opportunities for collaboration with our associating groups so that knowledge of the trails system can continue outside the existence of PAT.

Why is the pause happening? First, we continue to have a passion for trails and the willingness to share what we know with others. Second, it remains difficult to recruit people whom we think may share this passion and are willing and able to translate it into action. Third, delegating tasks is simple, but connecting with people who willingly carry them out is not. Fourth, we recognize that there are too few people for the number of tasks. We are now unable to do everything and do not want to make mistakes.

Guardians of Trail Experiences:

In the symphony of nature's offerings, we cater to the diverse aspirations of trail enthusiasts. From the thundering hooves of horseback riding to the rhythmic strides of hiking, the tireless revolutions of biking, and the serene glides of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, our canvas spans a myriad of experiences. Our members, stewards of these trails, not only preserve their essence but elevate them through devoted annual maintenance rituals, ensuring they remain vibrant and accessible.

Our Organization

The mission of Piscataquog Area Trailways is to promote the creation and preservation of trails on public and private land in the Piscataquog River watershed and to evaluate and inform the public regarding the responsible use and maintenance of these trails.
