Projects

Discover Our Initiatives at Piscataquog Area Trailways.

At Piscataquog Area Trailways, we are committed to selecting projects that not only benefit our community but also align with our values of sustainability and success. We carefully evaluate each project's potential impact and feasibility to ensure we're making a positive difference.

Our members actively contribute to this process by proposing significant projects to the Board of Directors or seeking support for smaller initiatives within their own neighborhoods.

To bring these projects to fruition, we explore various avenues for funding, including collaboration with state or federal agencies when necessary. Additionally, we embrace collaboration and may choose to allocate resources to other organizations working on complementary projects.

Join us in our mission to enhance the Piscataquog area through thoughtful projects that enrich our community and promote sustainability. Together, we can create a brighter future for all.

Introducing Saunders Pasture Trail: Your Gateway to Nature in New Boston, NH (2013/2014)

Nestled within the serene landscapes of Saunders Hill Road, Saunders Pasture Trail stands as a testament to community dedication and environmental stewardship. In 2013, fueled by the passion of 15 dedicated PAT members, we embarked on a transformative journey to enhance this natural gem.

Building upon an existing walking trail, our team invested three hours of hard work to unveil a multi-use trail, catering to the diverse interests of horseback riding, bicycling, and hiking enthusiasts. Under the careful management of the New Boston Conservation Commission, this land is safeguarded for future generations to enjoy.

Sherburne Forest Trail - A Hidden Gem in New Boston

Discover the serene beauty of the Sherburne Forest Trail, an extension of the renowned New Boston Trail on Old Coach Road. This picturesque trail meanders through three enchanting town forests - the Lydia Dodge Forest, the O`Rourke Forest, and the captivating Sherburne Forest.

Back in 2013, the ambitious members of Boy Scout Troop #123 embarked on a mission to clear parts of the Sherburne Forest Trail. Their hard work came to fruition with the construction of a sturdy bridge by a dedicated Scout striving to earn his coveted Eagle Scout Badge.

Exciting news awaits this year as the Piscataquog Area Trailways (PAT) team gears up to finalize the trail clearance and enhance trail markings. Offering a multi-use experience, this trail also features a connecting section that leads to Janet Nixon's delightful trails alongside the picturesque Piscataquog River. Explore the Sherburne Forest Trail and immerse yourself in nature's tranquility right here in New Boston.

Exploring the Outdoors with Piscataquog Area Trailways

In 2012, PAT played a crucial role in securing the extra $25,000 required to finalize the restoration of High Bridge in Lyndeborough, NH. This financial boost complemented the $25,000 grant that the Lyndeborough Trails Association had received from the NH Bureau of Trails for the bridge's rehabilitation work. As a result of these combined efforts, High Bridge now stands fully restored and welcoming to hikers, cyclists, equestrians, cross-country skiers, and snowshoers alike. The enhanced accessibility provided by High Bridge has opened up a plethora of new trails and gravel roads for outdoor enthusiasts to explore across Lyndeborough, Francestown, and New Boston.
